I didn't have the recipe when he died and after lots of digging in my memories and trial and errors I finally figured it out. - Prepare 3 lb of hamburger meat.
- You need 1 of onion, chopped.
- Prepare 1 of red pepper, chopped.
- It’s 1 of green pepper, chopped.
- Prepare 2 can of tomato juice.
- You need 2 can of chili beans.
- Prepare 1 can of diced tomato.
- It’s 2 packages of chili-o mix.
- It’s 1 of chili powder to your liking.
I use a packet of McCormick's Original Chili Seasoning for. My dads recipe goes back to his grandma, we always eat this on a "chili" fall day WeekendWarriors. This recipe is my dad's, but I learned it by watching my mom make it. My morning show partner, Bill, actually wrote it out for me several years ago, and we've been sharing it ever since!
My dads home made chili instructions
- Chop up veggies and brown with meat on medium.
- Add tomato juice, beans and tomato's into a pot/crock pot on medium.
- When meat is browned, drain and add 1/2 cup of water into the meat and add the chili-o mix.
- Add the meat to the tomato juice in the pot.
- Cook for one hour (we cook it from noon to around 6 p.m), then simmer until ready to eat!.
